Introduction:

This show is all about Futami Nozomu. He is currently in his 3rd year of middle school (US equivalent of first year in high school). Towards the end of kindergarten he had to move away from his home town with his father to Tokyo (his mother died when he was very young). There he and his father lived for roughly 8 years. His father is an Astronomer and therefore frequently moves around where ever his work takes him. One day, he had the opportunity to go to Hawaii to study the stars for two years. He then gave his son (Futami Nozomu) a choice: either to leave with him to Hawaii, or to stay in japan with anyone he wishes. He decided that he wanted to stay in Japan and decided to go back and live in his old town. There he is to stay with Miyabi-san and her daughters, Ruru and Rara Hinagiku (who are twins) and continue his education.

Review:

This show was fun to watch! It reminded me of both Ichigo 100% & Love Hina with some new elements! What is the new element? How about six sets of twins! This show is of course surrounded by Futami Nozomu and his struggles he has as a 3rd year middle-school student. Coming to his old town he hoped to find his old friends from kindergarten, especially, Kaoruko & Sumireko Ichijou (twins). When they were little they promised Nozomu that they would marry him in the future. The problem that faces Nozomu is that he is often unsure of how to express his feelings and is always trying not to hurt everyone and in the end he hurts himself the most. As more and more twins are introduced they all begin to become a bit attached to Nozomu (this is when I remembered ichigo 100%). Never have I seen a show that had this many twins in it but I felt it was well done nonetheless. I do have some faults with the show and I will now explain. Some twins through the show get a lot more “time on the screen” I like to call it, and I would have liked more background information on them, it being only 13 episodes I guess it couldn’t have been helped. Also, some of the twins you can easily distinguish between each other because of a different hair style or very prominent attitudes however some twins have neither, there are several sets of twins that are hard to tell who is who, even if I watched the show numerous times I would still have no idea which one is which. Other then these two faults it was a fairly well done story. You will see the beach, school festival, Christmas and more. The animation is decent, it could have been better; the OP song is pretty catchy too. I suggest this show for individuals who want a “light harem show”. I call it that because there are no objectionable scenes, no dirty thoughts, not even one kiss passes between any of the characters in the show (at most you will see the girls in there bathing suits). This show is very family orientated in a way. I am not complaining, after all it was still fun to watch, but I am just saying if you dislike harem titles because of the ecchiness level and want to watch something a little more closer to home, you should try this title.

Conclusion:

In the end, this series may just be another harem series but I believe that it is worth watching. You will find what you normally find in a harem series, a guy being chased with many girls, that guy’s friend who is very jealous of him, a “fanclub” for the popular set of girls and more (another time I was thinking of ichigo 100%, Nishino’s fan club as I was watching this series!). There are better harem shows, but there are many far worse ones. Since it’s a fansub it really takes no money away from you for checking out the title. If you are a harem fan, or are just getting in the series and want to take it slow before getting to the “heavy stuff.” I highly recommend you give Futakoi a try, I promise you won’t regret it!
