General Summary

It’s a tale from the kingdom; the queen gave birth to a girl and a boy (twins). However, the people of the town quivered in fear because there was a prophecy about these twins. In the prophecy it stated to kill the baby girl that emerges from the womb for she will bring about an unimaginable death to this world on her 16th birthday. That child’s name is Pacifica. Pacifica has lived in fear her entire life, always having assassin’s come after her life. She has two guardians, her sister Racquel who is an expert magic user and her brother Shannon, who is an expert swordsman. They travel from place to place resisting the will of anyone, even the Gods. What is the Scrapped Princess? What is her true purpose? These travelers go from city to city battling people who say they are fighting for there country, for their people, for money or to simply avoid worldwide disaster. Is it all in vain? Who are the true bad guys? What is free will? Is the Scrapped Princess going to destroy the entire world? Perhaps it is just an illusion? Is there an external force depicting what they should do and how they should act? You will have to watch Scrapped Princess to find out!

Art and Animation

The art is fantastic, or should I say the style. It’s what we expect from Bones, the same company that did magnificent titles such as Angelic Layer or Eureka Seven. The character design is magnificent, even the characters not from the main cast are well drawn. The scenery is beautiful and gives the world a much more “realer” feel as you are watching the series.

Character Development and Storyline

The character development throughout the show is well done; the characters develop and mature as the series progresses. The relationship between the three main characters, Pacifica, Shannon, Racquel is perfectly done. The other characters are developed solidly throughout the series as well. You notice the change in behavior as well as what they believe in throughout the series. I felt the story was consistently powerful and the ending of the story was perfectly done. The story not only ended on a good note but it also sent a powerful message regarding “free will” (to find out what you will have to watch the series!) It makes you think that, the world they are in could just be very well the same as ours in a way. To full understand this sentence you have to watch the series!

Music

The music for the show is just awesome; this includes both the OP “Little Wing” by Jam Project featuring Masami Okui & ED “Daichi no la-li-la” by Yoko Ueno and Masumi Itou. The music during the battles fit them perfectly, the huge battles had such powerful music, it reminded me of all the war movies on TV with the powerful music in the background leading the men to battle. Truly amazing.

Final Summary

I highly recommend this series. This is a fantastic fantasy story and one of the best I have seen. If I were to rank it, I would have it tied for second between itself and Slayers the first of course being Twelve Kingdoms. There are many deep messages that the series sends off so to fully appreciate the series I suggest keeping an eye out and try and be open minded as you are watching. What makes this series worth watching? It has Strong character development, fantastic story as well as great animation. This is one series that should not be passed up!
